Veteran actor Paresh Rawal is facing a ₹25 crore lawsuit from Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films, following his abrupt exit from the much-anticipated film Hera Pheri 3. The production house alleges that Rawal accepted a signing amount of ₹11 lakh and participated in the teaser shoot and creative planning before withdrawing from the project without prior notice. Legal representatives from Parinam Law Associates, acting on behalf of Cape of Good Films, confirmed the lawsuit, citing breach of contract and significant financial losses incurred due to Rawal's sudden departure.
According to the legal notice, Rawal publicly acknowledged his involvement in the film on January 30, 2025, via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. He formalized his commitment by executing a term sheet on March 27, 2025, and accepted a partial payment of ₹11 lakh. The teaser shoot commenced on April 3, 2025, during which over three minutes of footage featuring Rawal were filmed. The production house asserts that Rawal's unilateral withdrawal has caused severe financial loss, disrupted schedules, and jeopardized the momentum of a high-value production. They have demanded damages amounting to ₹25 crore and have threatened civil and criminal action if the demand is not met within seven days .
Rawal has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit. His sudden exit has also elicited reactions from co-stars. Suniel Shetty expressed his shock and disappointment, stating that both he and Akshay Kumar were unaware of Rawal's decision and emphasizing the importance of resolving the matter amicably . The unexpected development has cast uncertainty over the future of Hera Pheri 3, a film that fans have eagerly awaited for years.
